10/08/2014 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Hunter is a hard hitting lefty that has strong mechanics behind the dish. Offensively, he has above average raw power and strength to hit to all fields. He is aggressive with his swing path and has confidence when he steps in the box. He is direct with his barrel and worked to really drive with his lower half. Defensively, he gets to a good position to receive with his sure glove. He anticipates to block and is an enthusiastic worker. He deadens on his chest and throws on the bag with his pops. Overall - Hunter is a no sir, yes sir type of player that hustles on and off the field and plays the game the way it should be played.

07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Bower continues to progress. With the bat, this LH swinger steps into the box with a purpose. He swings on a level path and consistently squares the ball up with pop. He has good zone awareness and only swings at pitches he can handle. Behind the dish, he moves well laterally and gets around wild pitches. Footwork is quick as he gains ground toward 2B and puts his throws on the bag. An all-around talent - Bower's skills will translate well at the next level.

02/09/2014 - National Tryout - Mobile, AL Hunter has molded himself into a solid prospect. This left-handed swinging catcher has all around plus skills. At the plate, he throws his hands and drives the barrel to and through the zone. He turns on the pitch on the inner 1/2 and shows some pop. Behind the plate, he has quiet actions and moves fluidly. A quick/clean exchange results in accurate throws right on the bag. Bower has a bright future in the game.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament This backstop continues to show well on the diamond. With the stick, he is aggressive and goes to the plate looking to hit. He tracks the ball into the zone and delivers the barrel with quick hands, showing pull-side pop. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power. Behind the dish, he shows good good flexion and sits in well. He has a quick release and gains ground toward 2B. Hunter is a hard-nosed gamer who leaves it all on the field.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Hunter made several improvements in his overall game since we last saw him. At Pirate City, he showed good hustle on and off the field. He is a coachable player who is willing to make the necessary adjustments. Behind the dish, Hunter sits in well and is a quick twitch guy, getting around balls in the dirt. He shows good energy and communicates well with his teammates. Pop times are in the low 2's coming from a quick/clean exchange. At the plate, this strong lefty shows an athletic setup with good balance. He has quick bat speed, delivering the barrel to and through the zone, spraying the balls to the gaps. He shows patience waiting for his pitch and being very selective (drawing 4 walks at the event). Bower is a hard working player who will have success over the next couple of years.

04/07/2013 - College PREP - Tallahassee, FL Hunter continues to show solid abilities in his game. Defensively behind the plate, this catcher sits in well and watches the ball into his mitt. When blocking, he works well around the ball in the dirt and centers it off of his chest. He has a clean exchange and gets the ball to 2B quickly as he works in-line toward his target. Staying low to throw and increasing his arm strength will help to lower pop times. At the plate, this left-handed hitter displays a simple approach and good rhythm. He gets into a solid loaded position, delivers the barrel to the zone, and makes hard contact. Hunter is a hard worker and hustles all over the field. As only a 2015 graduate, this catcher will only continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
