Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

12/02/2022 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Hunter is a tall and lean 1B/LHP in the 2023 class. In the field, he has active feet and shows solid footwork. Covers his defensive zone well and is a strong target for his defenders. Has clean transfers and his feeds are accurate. Working to field more out in front will allow for hop adjustments. On the mound, he demonstrates a easy delivery and has a clean arm circle. Rides his back leg and his front side stays closed to his target. His FB sits 77-8 with arm side run. His CB sits 61-5 with 1-7 shape and tight spin. Working on a higher separation will allow more extension and downward tilt. At the plate, he has barrel feel and his swing is smooth and quiet. Has barrel whip (82 exit velo) and gains extension through the zone. Hunter is a very projectable prospect who will flourish with the right college program.

09/02/2022 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) with Video Showcase Hunter continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities at the All Region tournament. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. He utilizes his foot quickness well in his lateral movements and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with online carry to his target. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/21/2022 - All-In Membership - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the field. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.84 runner. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm to work clean to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late, sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run and sinking action. Slider has tight spin and short break. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents out front. H He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

09/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Hunter is an athletic 1B/LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Hunter shows active footwork and moves well laterally. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Long tossing can help Hunter build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He shows fluid rhythm and works through a level swing, spraying line drives to all fields. Hunter can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Hunter gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest square to his target. Hunter operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 59-62mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph with arm side run. Driving his lower half more can help Hunter increase his pitch velocity. Overall, Hunter is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/23/2020 - All-In Membership - Nashville, TN Hunter is a R/L 2-way player (1B/LHP) who graduates in 2023. Defensively, he has fluid/active footwork and comes to get the GB. He works into a square/athletic fielding position, makes the plays with soft hands and gathers well. As a hitter, this righty shows a balanced setup with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack, likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. Engaging his full lower 1/2 will help to generate more torque and pop off of the barrel. On the mound, Hunter has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/free arm action. He stays directional and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 60-62 mph while showing slight run. Curveball has tight spin with 2/8 shape. More glove-side lead and lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get more into his FB. Only a 2023 grad - Hunter has skills with still time to progress and get stronger.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
