06/02/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 91 mph. Fastball showed a range of 89-91 mph with arm side run and sink. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. Command/control is superior as he attacks hitters and works to get ahead, utilizing both sides of the plate. Defensively at SS, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward 1B. Exchange is clean with strong throws. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, hitting abilities are at a pro level with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (93 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. Hunter has big upside on the bump and will get looks from pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hunter is a very talented, athletic (6'0"/175) 2-way prospect who is fun to watch. Defensively, he displays quick footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB working from right to left. Hands are soft/smooth with a quick release to throw. At the plate, this righty steps into the box looking to swing it. He has fluid rhythm and he gets his hands back into a strong load/launch position. He whips the barrel with speed and connects with pop as the ball jumps off of his barrel (exit velocity = 94 mph). On the mound, Hunter throws a FB & CB from a 3/4 arm slot and quick arm action. He works quickly, attacks the zone and challenges hitters to swing the bat. FB has life and gets on hitters, ranging from 86-88 mph. Slider is a solid go to pitch as it has tight spin and sharp break with 10/4 shape. This Fresno State commit has the skills and versatility that will light it up on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
