Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

07/16/2017 - College PREP - Washington, DC Hunter is a tall, athletic RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.07. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through well. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At the plate he shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he creates more extension through the ball at contact. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action but throws too hard with speed variations being too close to fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Hunter has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
