Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

08/07/2022 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Billings, MT Hunter is a tall RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. On the mound, Hunter operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-58mph. Changeup sits from 62-63mph. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Hunter improve his pitch command. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets into his load well. He works to barrel up the baseball and sprays line drives to all fields. Hunter can create more consistent contact by working a smoother rhythm into his load. Overall, Hunter is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is firm but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 53 mph. Fastball showed a range of 48-53 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/18/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Dickinson, ND Hunter is a lean, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Hunter has good range, agile movements, and keeps the ball in front of his body. He shows a clean exchange from glove to hand and throws with direction across the diamond. On the mound, this RHP has good balance and a clean arm circle. He has good glove side lead, a controlled landing, and he competes in the zone. At the plate, Hunter has a tall stance, good balance, and he works the ball the opposite way. He makes consistent contact and gets the bat through the zone. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
