07/25/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a top prospect on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.63 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are at a pro level as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He shows big play potential in the OF. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line zip (93 mph velocity). At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-82 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard. Hunter has the makings of a special type player and possibly drafty guy.

04/22/2018 - College PREP - Reno, NV Hunter is an athletic OF prospect who will graduate in 2018. In the field, Hunter shows quick footwork and is very agile ranging to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He shows a quick glove exchange with a quick release which leads to accurate throws that carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits from a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with explosive bat speed which leads to consistent contact and gap to gap power. Overall, Hunter is a talented prospect who possesses the skill set that will play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
