07/08/2012 - Select Training at the All-Star Game Green continues to show as a solid catcher that has potential at the next level. Pop times shows in the 2.04 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, Hunter continues to show as a switch hitter that shows better as a LHH. He show an athletic setup with quick hands that flash bat speed through the zone. Barrel accuracy is a plus with ball jumping off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 6 and made consistent contact in all his ABS.

06/22/2012 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 This week in Omaha Hunter displayed the ability to work around the pitch behind the plate, along with a clean exchange and quick feet when getting into his throwing position. His abilities behind the plate should continue to develop as he learns to trust his hands and allow the ball to travel to him. In the outfield, he creates efficient angles and gets behind the ball allowing him to work through each play. His tools in the outfield should continue to improve as he learns to engage his lower half when making his throws to the infield. At the plate he has fluid actions and an easy load with extension through contact, but needs to maintain a quiet head throughout his swing. Hunter is a good kid with a very coachable attitude.

01/16/2012 - College PREP - Tucson, AZ Hunter is a solid and athletic 2-way player who graduates in 2014. Defensively behind the plate, he shows active feet, good sway, and good flexibility. He tracks the ball well and has a quick release showing good pop times to second base. He needs to try and have a higher arm angle and gain ground toward 2nd when throwing as well as work lower on blocking drills. In the OF, he covers ground well to all sides and makes accurate throws to his target. He needs to continue to work on a pre-pitch approach and throw from a higher arm slot. At the plate, Hunter shows good ability from both sides, but has more power from the left. He has a solid stance, good load, and short stride. He gets his lower 1/2 thru and he uses all fields, driving the ball gap-to-gap. As a RHH he needs to level out his swing and create extension thru contact. Hunter is still very young and with maturity, he will become stronger and faster which will help his overall game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
