Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Hunter is a two-way player that showed very well in the tournament setting with Baseball Factory. In the OF, he got good reads, communicated well and threw accurately with some carry to his targets. His foot speed is solid, but he could work to improve his agility and drop his sixty time even lower. Offensively, the lefty showed good bat speed, strong hands, and good lower half use. Implementing a load of some sort will help to improve his timing and strength thru the ball. On the mound, the southpaw threw three pitches for strikes - FB, CB and Sinker. He has quality mechanics and is able to repeat. Currently, Hunter projects well in either spot - he is an intangible guy that works hard and is a straight up gamer.

07/09/2013 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Hunter is an athletic LHP/OF that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.09 60 time. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls through an aggressive approach. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Hamers shows a balanced approach. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more and load more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with slight break. He maintains his arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Hunter has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
