Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 56-58 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

09/15/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Moosic (Scranton), PA Hunter is a young, 2-way player that graduates in 2025. At 1st base, Hunter has efficient footwork, he presents his glove well, and he fields squarely. He has good bag awareness, makes the routine plays consistently, and throws with a loose arm action to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance over the rubber, he works well to his balance point, and he gets good extension on his pitches. At the plate, Hunter has a closed stance, he loads well, and swings on plane. He has fast bat speed, makes square contact, and he finds the barrel consistently. Overall skills can further improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Gain more ground
2. Play lower
Pitching
1. Glove side lead
2. Finish
3. Arm strength
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
