07/26/2015 - College PREP - Gillette, WY Hunter is an athletic R/R backstop. Behind the dish, he sits in well with quiet actions and flexion while presenting a low target. He works hard around pitches in the dirt and centers the ball off of his chest. Transfer/exchange is fluid as he fires accurate throws down to 2B (pop times of 2.20). Staying low to throw and gaining more ground toward 2B will help pop times to continue to drop. At the plate, Hunter shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He squares the ball up, extends well through contact and uses the whole field. More lower 1/2 drive will help to increase power. Hunter is a skilled catcher who should find success as he enters his senior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
