Overall, Hunter is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) This talented backstop continues to progress and impress on the diamond. Offensively, Hunter steps into the box with a purpose. Bat speed is evident as he fires the barrel on-plane, connects with strength and engages his lower 1/2 well. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered (exit velo = 92 mph). He battles at the plate, going 3 for 6 with 3 doubles at the event. Behind the dish, Hunter sits in well with quiet/athletic actions and sway, tracking pitches into a soft mitt. He takes good angles laterally to body/center pitches in the dirt. Throws down to 2B are on the bag with carry - pop times remaining in the low 2's. Lawall's all-around skill-set and coachability combined to produce a very solid 2022 prospect.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.09 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

He tucks his chin well when blocking and keeps the ball in front of him. Getting rid of the ball quicker can help Hunter improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a relaxed stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a small load and drives through well with his lower half. He rotates his core well and flashes some gap to gap pop. Hunter can improve as a hitter by taking a level swing path. On the mound, Hunter gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
