Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Hunter is an athletic and projectable SS/RHP. At SS, Hunter shows athletic actions with quick and effective footwork. He gets a +1st step with agile range to the glove and backhand side. Fielding the ball, he presents soft hands getting the glove down on time with clean exchanges. He creates momentum to his target throwing across the diamond with accuracy and carry. Hitting, Hunter sets up slightly open with high and loose hands. His load is simple with a square stride. He gets his lower half through with hip/hand separation and shows fast bat speed getting on plane with the pitch. On the bump, Hunter shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH. The FB shows some AS run with + command, a 11-5 CB that shows as a K pitch, and a CH that shows great depth. Pitching, he has athletic movements on the mound with good tempo/rhythm. As Hunter grows and develops his game, he will become a player to watch.

01/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Dayton, OH Hunter is a young, athletic, 2-way player with nice skills at both positions. At SS, Hunter has active feet, he gets in a good ready position, and he fields squarely. He moves through the ball well, his exchange is clean, and Hunter throws with strength across the diamond. On the mound, Hunter has good balance, he separates his hands on time, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He has a loose/clean arm circle, lands with a proper length stride toward home, and he competes in the zone. At the plate, Hunter has a crouched/open stance, a short stride, and good balance. He swings aggressively, has a direct barrel through the ball, and he works the middle of the field. Overall skills can continue to get better if Hunter can work on the following.

Infield
1. Exchange
2. Release
3. Body control
Pitching
1. Stride
2. Arm strength
Offense
1. Barrel accuracy
2. Rhythm
3. Load

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
