01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Hunter improved in a few areas of his game during his time at the All-America tournament. He improved his top velocity on the mound, now topping out at 88 mph. His FB shows slight action and is thrown for strikes. His slider is an excellent pitch and has a sharp/powerful break. Defensively, he has active feet and makes consistently accurate throws to his target. Defensive abilities will improve if he can become more aggressive to the ball and get better pre-pitch rhythm. Offensively, he has a level swing, he makes consistent contact and he creates extension thru contact. He can create more power if he can use more of his lower 1/2.

09/28/2011 - Under Armour Fall Classic - 2011 Hunter is a lanky shortstop and also spends some time on the mound. Hunter has a very quick and accurate arm with a clean exchange, but needs to work on getting into a better fielding position with a more consistent pre-pitch routine. At the plate, Hunter tracks the ball well enabling him to make consistent solid contact with his level swing and shows some ability for power in the gaps. To improve his hitting skills, Hunter needs to get his front foot down early so he can maintain his balance throughout his swing. On the mound, Hunter is quick to the plate and works with a good tempo. His skills on the mound should continue to develop as he learns to control his delivery and keep his body weight back over the rubber before making his move to the plate. Hunter projects more as a second baseman at the next level and shows the ability to play the game at a fast pace

06/27/2011 - College PREP - Amelia (Cincinnati), OH Hunter is a thin, athletic two-way player at SS plus on the mound that will graduate in 2012. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.16 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive as he come gets the baseball but needs to play through more with his body. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Hands are soft, clean, and sure displaying a solid glove action. He plays hard with hands / feet working well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, McIntosh shows an athletic, balanced approach as he loads well and attacks the baseball with his hands. Bat speed is a plus to and through the ball at contact, showing extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-81 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying as a quality out pitch at the next level. Changeup shows average feel for with fade but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. Stock on the mound, will rise quickly if more arm strength is developed, raising velocities. Hunter has a lot of athletic abilities and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
