01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Hunter continues to show consistency in his overall abilities. On the mound, he throws consistent strikes with good feel for his fastball. He gets downhill on his pitches with good direction toward the plate. Hunter will continue to grow as a pitcher as he develops a changeup to go with his good FB command. Defensively, he displayed good arm strength from his position and a feel for backhand plays. By working on his overall footwork and approach he should see improvements in reaching a lower fielding position. At the plate, Hunter showed a level swing path and a good load in his hands. His load is activated but he will need to focus on using his hips and hands together to generate more power in his swing. With a few years before high school, Hunter has a good foundation that will continue to improve as he physically matures.

11/03/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Wilsonville (Portland), OR Hunter is a young, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Hunter has good pre-pitch actions, quick footwork, and he moves well laterally. He has playable hands, and a free arm action to his target. On the mound, Hunter has a repeatable delivery, good direction toward home, and he gets good extension on his pitches. At the plate, Hunter has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he keeps his hands inside the ball. He has good barrel accuracy, makes solid contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through the ball. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
