10/25/2020 - All-In Membership - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Hunter is a tall/projectable L/L 2-way player as a LHP/OF. On the mound, this lefty has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works tall, has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. He has sound mechanics, drives off of the rubber and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 76-79 mph with slight cut as he commands it to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has 2/8 shape with tight spin. Changeup shows slight cut and is thrown with FB arm speed, helping to create deception. In the OF, he has active prep and takes a quick first step. He works into position behind the ball and plays through it well. Throws are accurate as he works in-line toward his target. With the bat, this lefty displays an athletic stance with a quiet head. Barrel delivery is quick as he connects and looks to drive the middle of the field. Getting loaded sooner while engaging his lower 1/2 more will help to increase pop off of the barrel. Nelson is a skilled 2-way prospect who has upside on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
