11/15/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Marlborough (Boston), MA Hunter continues to develop. At SS, he shows active footwork and moves fluidly from right to left around the GB. He funnels with soft hands, gathering well and working in-line toward his target at 1B. Offensively, Hunter has an athletic setup with rhythm. Swing path is level to and through the zone as he connects and drives the ball with some pop. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power. On the mound, Hunter drives off the rubber downhill toward the dish. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed with sink as he keeps it down in the zone - resulting in GB outs. Hunter is a well rounded player who should find success as he enters his senior season.

09/20/2015 - College PREP - Lewiston, ME Hunter has worked hard and progressed very well in his game. With the bat, this strong righty shows a balanced setup with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he whips the barrel to and through the zone, connecting with pop. He squares the ball up consistently and uses the entire field. At SS, Hunter has active prep footwork and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. He can turn the DP with ease coming from a quick/clean transfer/exchange. On the bump, this RHP commands the zone with all 3-pitches. FB now cracks the mitt topping out at 79 mph as he works to keep it down in the zone. Curveball has share 12/6 shape proving to be a solid 'K' pitch. He can hit his spots and will challenge hitters. Hunter is a versatile athlete who has molded himself into a solid MIF prospect.

06/20/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Hunter is a young, medium built, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Hunter stands over the rubber well, is around the plate with all of his pitches, and his CB shows nice potential. If he can loosen his arm, soften his landing leg, and use more lower body, mound effectiveness will further improve. Defensively, Hunter is sure handed, his feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball. He shows good range, gains proper momentum toward his target, and throws with carry to 1st base. A more smooth backhand and quicker release will help improve defensive numbers. At the plate, he has an open stance, good balance, and direct hands to the ball. He uses some lower body and extends through the ball well. If he can let the ball travel further, liven up his hands, and increase his bat speed, hitting grades should rise. Hunter is a great kid and is very coachable.

08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Hunter is a lean SS/RHP that will graduate in 2016. At SS, he works to square balls up and makes the routine plays, displaying clean hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls, play through while presenting hands more out front, and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate is he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with hitting grades improving as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power grades will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays flat break as he needs to work to stay on top of pitch more. Stock on the mound will improve as he builds more arm strength, throws more strikes and improves off speed pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
