01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hunter continues to project as a good two way prospect. This 2020 RHP/3B has a huge strong frame at 6'4"/203 lbs. Works downhill well, keeps his eye down on his target and commands his pitches very well. His efficient delivery allows him to fill the strike zone. His size and length create a heavy ball that jumps on hitters inside. Recorded 7 strikeouts of 15 batters faced while only 4 reached base safely. Defensively, Hunter presents his glove well, works behind the baseball and flow through nicely. Takes good angles and has a good feel for his backhand. At the plate, he excels with a middle of the field approach and direct hands to the ball. His line drive approach mixed with consistent hard contact will play well moving forward.

07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Hunter is a talented RHP/3B prospect who strong, well-built frame and versatile skill set. On the mound, Hunter works downhill with good tilt maintaining eye contact on his target. He has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. Hunter effectively uses his front side and rotates with his core towards his target as he finishes. He commands his off-speed pitches doing a nice job changing speed. Offensively, Hunter has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Hunter shows fast bat speed with strong hands getting good extension at contact. He has an aggressive approach and produces hard contact. Hunter drives the ball to each gap getting good backspin on the ball. In the field, Hunter plays with a solid base and aggressive approach. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. Hunter has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Overall, Hunter plays the game athletically with a versatile skill set giving him a bright future on the diamond.

10/26/2016 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. He did show at 3B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he plays through a low approach. Glove action is soft / clean and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows good rhythm and a solid approach at the plate. Hands stay inside the baseball utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with a 2B. On the mound, control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Arm action is loose and easy. Mental makeup is a plus as he shows good aptitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Hunter has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

10/02/2016 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO Hunter is a tall, athletic RHP prospect who graduates in 2018. Hunter works downhill with clean, easy mechanics that are balanced and on-time. He has a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. Hunter maintains direction with his motion and extends through his release as he rotates towards home plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Hunter commands his fastball at 77-79 MPH with sinking movement. He also features a deceptive, tailing change-up that mimics his FB and a 10-4 breaking curveball. Hunter has good upside as he continues to build arm strength with maturity.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
