Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/OFPosition Projection

11/19/2017 - College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Hunter is a broad, strong 2019 3B/OF prospect. He is very impressive in the outfield in his ability to track down long fly balls and show a strong arm to cut down runners trying to advance. He gets quick reads on fly balls and uses active feet to attack the ball, taking good angles. His hands are soft to field at third and quick to transfer and release, showing a strong, accurate arm. At the dish, he shows feel for the barrel, consistently squaring up the ball to hit it on a line. He has strong hands through the zone and fast bat speed on a short path to the ball to go gap to gap for base hits. A strength program will go a long way towards turning singles into extra base hits. Hunter is a talented ballplayer with ability all over the field.

02/19/2017 - College PREP - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Hunter is a broad, strong 2019 3B/OF prospect. He shows advanced bat to ball skills with the ability to consistently deliver the barrel and hit the ball hard. He is aggressive at the plate, taking big cuts and looking to drive the ball to the middle of the field. His is smooth to swing with balance throughout and a strong lower half to generate bat speed and power. He has a fast bat through the zone, working directly to the ball to make consistent, hard line drive contact. At the hot corner, his hands are soft and reliable to handle hard shots down the line. He is athletic to field square to the ball and creates good throwing angles to make accurate tosses across the diamond. In the outfield, he works to the ball aggressively with active feet and takes efficient angles to extend his range in all directions. He plays through the ball with momentum to his target to make strong throws. Getting to the spot to work behind fly balls will allow him to make plays easier. Hunter is an exciting, young prospect with lots of potential on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
