01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hunter is a very talented athlete in the MIF who continues to shine every time that he steps onto the diamond. As a hitter, this righty stands in with an athletic/open setup with loose/active hands. He gets back into a strong launch position, fires the barrel and squares the ball up consistently with pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the entire field. He has a good eye for the zone and is patient to only swing at pitches he likes, drawing 4 walks out of 7 at-bats. At SS, Spence maintains athletic actions and works fluidly right to left around the GB. He takes good angles, presents his hands and funnels smoothly to a clean exchange. Arm action is short and quick with zip on his throws. This 2020 grad is a well rounded MIF who is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Douglasville (Atlanta), GA Hunter continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the MIF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active in attacking ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / zip (85 mph velocity) across the diamond. Hunter will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/04/2017 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Hunter is an athletic MIF who is a competitor who plays the game the right way. He brings energy which is evident in the way he plays the game. Defensively, he is smooth and fluid when fielding with active feet and great body control, fielding everything from the right with soft hands. He shows a quick, clean transfer and makes perfect feeds and strong, accurate throws to his target. At the dish, his quick hands and fast bat through the zone result in well-hit baseballs to all parts of the field. He has a strong lower half as he swings against a firm front side to generate some pop and extends through contact to drive the ball. As he continues to grow and build strength, he'll tap into more power potential. Hunter is a scrappy, intelligent player that will be an asset to any team he plays on.

06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Hunter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will continue to increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Hunter is a talented, young INF with good instincts on the bases. In the field, Hunter creates good angles, stays through on the backhand, and makes the routine play. He throws from a low 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, Hunter has a simple stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He barrels the ball up and hits line-drives consistently to all fields. Hunter is a smart player and will continue to improve with experience.

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Hunter is a coachable player who asks questions and has a willingness to improve. With the bat, this RHH shows an open setup with centered balance and smooth rhythm. He tracks pitches into the zone and off of his barrel, hitting line-drives back ip the middle of the field. He battles and doesn't go down easily. Developing his timing (stride foot landing) will help to increase hard contact consistency. At SS, Hunter has active prep and is ready to move right or left. He works around the GB and into a square fielding position. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Presenting his glove and fielding the GB more out in front will help to avoid getting the in between hop. A 2020 grad - Hunter still has a ton of time to develop his skills and increase his strength (which will also come with physical maturity).

10/23/2016 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Hunter is a developing SS prospect who graduates in 2020. In the field, Hunter plays with active footwork giving him the ability to cover good ground. He works to get behind the baseball and field it squarely. Hunter throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and his throws are online. He looks especially smooth on his double play feed. Offensively, Hunter has an athletic, open stance with a firm front side. He takes a square stride and has a fluid load. Hunter stays balanced and on top of the baseball with a line drive approach. He sprays the ball to all fields with good contact. Hunter is a hardworking prospect who should continue to see gains on the field as he continues to polish his skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
