07/27/2014 - College PREP - Gillette, WY Hunter is a young, lanky RHP/OF that will graduate in 2018. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.09 60 time. Defensive abilities in the OF are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well, and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying solid arm strength. At the plate, he shows a squared setup and he tracks the ball well. Hands are loose and works through ha level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-78 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches at the next level. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 4 years to further develop, Hunter has abilities and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
