Official Scouting Report

  • SSPosition Projection

USA Baseball 17U Championships Hunter is an athletic SS/RHP that shows as a top prospect on the diamond. At the plate he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line to the deepest part of the park. At the event, he was 6 for 12 with a 3B, 5 RBI, and 6 BB as he shows a patient approach and strong recognition of the strike zone. Defensively, he takes a quick first step and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (89 mph velocity) on his throws. Defensive abilities are near a pro level as he shows big play potential. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 87-90 mph with late life. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for te pitch with arm side run. Control is excellent as he attacks hitters, locating to both sides of the plate. A closer type arm, he came in and got a big save in a game. A TCU commit, Hunter has a ton of upside and possesses the skill set that will play at a very high level with the makings of a solid 2021 draft pick.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hunter showed exceptionally well in all areas at the UA Pre-Season. He runs well (6.73 60-time), has plus arm strength (97 MPH raw velocity), and can switch hit equally as good from both sides. At SS, Hunter has smooth actions, active feet, and a soft/presentable glove. He fields cleanly, out in front of his body, and throws with life and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Hunter has an easy swing, pop from both sides, and explosive bat speed. He has loose hands, a good feel for the barrel, and hits with power gap to gap. Hunter is a player to keep your eye on!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
