08/11/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Waipahu, HI Hurley is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. In the field, Hurley shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange, keeping his throws consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He shows fluid rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone, leading to solid pop to his pull side. On the mound, Hurley gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Hurley shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 50-52mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 53-56mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

2. Smoother release

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
