06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.03 runner. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork in attacking balls. He works to square ground balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
