Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory Los Angeles All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Ian is a class of 2027 SS/RHP prospect. He shows off a medium sized frame with lots of room to continue to add strength. In the field, he shows good footwork and plays downhill. Shows good glove actions through the ball and does a good job picking out hops. Shows some athleticism with ability to change arm slots and has strong throws across. At the plate, he does a good job staying in the middle of the field and getting extension. Good hip actions and aggressive swings help show off some gap to gap potential power. On the mound, he does a good job working downhill. Shows a clean arm action and good tempo. Fastball was up to 54 MPH and best pitch was his breaking ball in the mid 40's MPH range. Ian is a good player with many years to continue his development.

04/03/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Ian is a lean SS who will graduate in 2027. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 5 years to further develop, Ian has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
