11/03/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Ian ran his fastest 60 to date at 7.38 seconds, increased arm velocity to 74 MPH, and exit velocity to 80 MPH during his last workout in Vinton. At 3rd base, Ian makes plays on balls hit his way through playable hands and feet. He keeps the ball in front of his body, his exchange is quick and clean, and he throws with accuracy and a quick release across the diamond. Offensively, Ian has an open stance, a short stride, and good balance. He flashes good bat speed, his barrel is direct, and he uses his lower body well.

04/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Ian showed nice overall improvements during his last workout with the Factory. He spiked hitting grades to 32 and 35 and improved radar velocity to 68 MPH on the mound. Defensively, Ian presents his glove well, he has efficient footwork to the ball, and attacks aggressively. He makes plays and has an accurate arm across the diamond. On the mound, Ian has a clean AA, he competes in the zone with all of his pitches, and he continues to gain velocity on his FB. At the plate, Ian has an athletic/balanced stance, he swings in good rhythm, and finds the barrel consistently. He has very good bat speed, a short swing, and makes hard contact. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Present glove earlier
2. Smoother release on throws
Pitching
1. Longer stride
2. Finish chest over front knee
Hitting
1. Keep hands up in load

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Ian is a talented SS/RHP prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2022. As a right-handed hitter, Ian has an open setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He takes a square stride and partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Ian has strong hands and shows pop when he lands the barrel to the baseball. He has the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. In the field, Ian has effective pre-pitch actions and gets a good jump on the ball. He fields the ball in a low position and stabs at the baseball. Ian has a quick arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Ian is a versatile prospect who plays the game athletically with upside to take his game to the next level.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Ian is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2022. Defensively at SS, he hustles hard laterally as he tries to work around the GB. He gets into a square fielding position and will make all routine plays. On the mound, this RHP gathers over the rubber and delivers from a 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes locked in on the mitt and separates on time. With the bat, Ian presents fluid rhythm to load. He explodes his lower 1/2 and whips his barrel quickly through the zone driving pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
