07/30/2018 - College PREP - York, PA Ian is a strong, two-way prospect who is currently more advanced as a shortstop, but shows potential all over the field. He is an advanced hitter already with knowledge of the strike zone and a swing path that allows him to barrel the ball consistently. He shows smooth actions at the plate to load and launch, keeping his balanced centered his bat through the zone. He works directly to the ball on a level path to make consistent, square contact and show gap power. At short, he is a steady hand with range to both sides and soft hands to field the tough hops. He is comfortable going to the backhand and makes quick, accurate DP feeds and turns. On the bump he shows a strong frontside to pull his arm through and generate whip. He uses his entire body to generate velocity and good movement on all of his pitches. Keeping his tempo in his delivery consistent will improve deception and keep hitters off of his fastball. Ian is a prospect we look forward to following as he continues to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
