04/14/2013 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM McClaugherty has some length to his 5-foot-11 148 pound frame. He ran 7.31 in the 60, and 4.44 down the line from the right side. In the infield, he stayed low in his approach and play on the ball, and gathered well into his fielding position. His glove worked out front, and he made a solid play on the ball. Double play feeds were smooth, but he tended to be more mechanical on routine plays - didn't play through the ball as well, and had length in his arm stroke. Can work to get looser and quicker through the ball to help his throws carry across the infield better. At the plate, he hit from a square setup. He was a bit wide, and didn't get his hands working back much pre pitch. Weight tended to hang on his back leg, resulting in a slashing type stroke that got out of the zone quickly. Can work to get weight moving forward through contact in order to allow for better extension, this will help loosen up his stroke.
