12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Ian is a prospect that showed very well at the Pirate City event. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his outstanding foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B and 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/21/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Ian is a class of 2023 OF/3B. He shows off an athletic frame and good athletic abilities. In the infield, he does a good job working aggressively downhill and takes good angles to the baseball. Shows active/effective footwork and presents his glove out front when fielding ground balls. He works from right to left with help from his good pre-pitch actions. Does a good job creating angles and staying aggressive to the ball. Throws are accurate and on a line across the diamond with an arm velocity up to 84mph. In the OF, he gets good reads off bat as he works around the baseball. Fields from an athletic/low fielding position with a quick transfer off his left foot. Has good carry on his throws with a quick release. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance. Does a good job getting his barrel directly into the zone and focuses on driving the ball up the middle. Showed good balance and a quiet head throughout his round of BP with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph. Ian is a good player that has one more year to develop in high school before trying to play at the collegiate level.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Ian presents a solid baseball skill set package from a versatile athlete. Offensively it’s a balanced swing which he utilizes his lower half well to generate bat speed and a short path with an ability to stay in the contact zone well allows him to consistently barrel the baseball. He consistently works in the low to mid 80’s with exit velocity and peaks at 87 mph currently. It’s a gap to gap approach that will play with doubles power and as he matures physically will present HR power to the pull side potentially. Defensively, he is a versatile defender who profiles as CF/LF prospect with the ability to add 3b or 2b to his defensive profile. He has athletic actions in the OF with a good first step, his baseball IQ and body control allow him to take proper routes to the baseball making him an above average defensive CF. On the dirt he has good footwork with soft hands and his average arm strength at 80 MPH raw velocity gives him the ability to handle 2b or 3b. Overall, Ian is a versatile college baseball prospect who can impact a game in a variety of ways with his skill set and still has room to mature and develop athletically to take his game to even higher levels of performance.

07/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Trenton, NJ Ian is a class of 2023 OF prospect. He shows off a decent frame with room to continue to fill out. At the plate, he hits from a simple and repeatable stance/load. Does a good job staying relaxed and hitting the ball where pitched with his use of the whole field. Works to hit the ball from gap to gap and shows off power potential with exit velos as high as 82 MPH. Consistently shows the ability to find the barrel and drive the baseball. In the outfield, he does a good job activating his feet with his pre-pitch actions. Shows aggressive movements downhill on balls hit to him on the ground. Does a good job of reading the ball off the bat and getting good routes. Ian is a good prospect that should have a chance to play at the next level as he continues to work to develop in his remaining year of high school.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
