10/13/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Lexington, KY Ian showed very well all over the diamond during his last workout in Lexington. He raised arm velocity to 72 MPH as well as exit velocity to 72 MPH. At SS, Ian has quick feet, soft/presentable hands, and he picks out the right hops. He fields low and athletically, his exchange is quick, and he throws with accuracy and carry from a short arm action to his target. On the mound, Ian has a balanced delivery and a loose/free arm circle. He separates on time, works on a downhill plane, and he finishes completely. Offensively, hitting numbers improved to 42 and 40 respectively. He has a square stance, a short stride, and good balance. He has quick hands, fast bat speed, and he makes hard/consistent contact to all fields.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ian is a tall and young SS/RHP. At SS, Ian shows relaxed actions with agile footwork. He fields the ball well with his glove presented out in front. His exchanges are with 2-hands and makes throws across the diamond with a loose arm action and accurate throws. At the plate, Ian shows an open stance with loose and comfortable hands as he activates his load striding square. He gets his foot down on time rotating against a firm front side and shows +barrel control. His approach shows the ability to spray to all fields. On the mound, Ian gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and gets good extension through his release. Ian shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits at 51mph. Changeup sits from 61-62mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Working on overall strength and speed will help improve Ian's game. Ian is young and a hard worker with several years to develop.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Ian is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his offensive skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Ian can improve as a hitter by consistently extending through the baseball. With six more years to develop, Ian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ian is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Ian fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange. He throws from a high 3/4 angle with a loose arm, keeping his throws accurate with good carry through his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Ian improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with his hands held high. He is smooth getting into his load and sprays the ball to all fields. Ian can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride to the pitcher. On the mound, Ian starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, finishing square to the plate. Ian shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph. Breaking ball sits from 46-51mph with 10-4 break. Staying inline towards the plate can help Ian improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, Ian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Ian is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Select Training & Competition at Pirate City. In the field, Ian flashes good lateral range and makes the routine plays. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Ian improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and produces solid line drives. Ian can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Ian gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Ian shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph with cutting action. Changeup sits at 48mph. Ian can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With seven more years to develop, Ian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/14/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Lexington, KY Ian is a tall, thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Ian has presentable hands, he moves well to the glove side, and squares up properly to the ball. He makes plays consistently, has a clean exchange, and throws with a long arm action with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Ian keeps his eyes on target, he has a balanced delivery, and separates on time. He gets good extension on his pitches and competes in the zone. Offensively, Ian has a square set-up, good balance, and a level swing. He makes hard/consistent contact, swings on plane, and attacks aggressively. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
