07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ian is a tall and young SS/RHP. At SS, Ian showed relaxed actions with agile footwork. He fields the ball well with his glove presented out in front. His exchanges are with 2-hands and makes throws across the diamond with a loose arm action and accurate throws. At the plate, Ian shows an open stance with loose and comfortable hands as he activates his load striding square. He gets his foot down on time rotating against a firm front side and showed +barrel control. His approach shows the ability to spray to all fields. Working on overall strength and speed will help improve Ian's game the most right now. Ian is young and a hard worker with several years to develop.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Ian is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his offensive skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Ian can improve as a hitter by consistently extending through the baseball. With six more years to develop, Ian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ian is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Ian fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange. He throws from a high 3/4 angle with a loose arm, keeping his throws accurate with good carry through his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Ian improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with his hands held high. He is smooth getting into his load and sprays the ball to all fields. Ian can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride to the pitcher. On the mound, Ian starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, finishing square to the plate. Ian shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph. Breaking ball sits from 46-51mph with 10-4 break. Staying inline towards the plate can help Ian improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, Ian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Ian is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Select Training & Competition at Pirate City. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Ian improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and produces solid line drives. Ian can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Ian shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph with cutting action. Changeup sits at 48mph. Ian can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With seven more years to develop, Ian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/14/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Lexington, KY Ian is a tall, thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Ian has presentable hands, he moves well to the glove side, and squares up properly to the ball. He makes plays consistently, has a clean exchange, and throws with a long arm action with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Ian keeps his eyes on target, he has a balanced delivery, and separates on time. He gets good extension on his pitches and competes in the zone. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
