07/06/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Ian showed solid overall abilities during his time in Cape Cod. Hitting and fielding grades spiked as well as radar velocity to 70 MPH. At SS, Ian has quick feet, agile movements, and soft/sure hands. He has a good glove angle, plays through the ball properly, and throws with momentum and consistency across the diamond. On the mound, Ian has a quick/clean arm circle, he works well to his balance point, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At the plate, hitting and power grades improved to 38 and 35. He has an athletic setup, plus bat speed, and solid balance. He has a direct barrel to the ball with pop in his bat. Ian is a solid player who not only performs well on the field he's coachable, hustles, and is a team player.

06/10/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Ian is an athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Ian has active feet, agile movements, and he fields the ball smoothly. He has a clean exchange, momentum toward his target, and he throws with accuracy from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Ian stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on time, and has good glove side lead. He works in good rhythm, competes in the zone, and he mixes his pitches well. At the plate, Ian has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings on plane. He has a line drive approach, makes square contact, and works the ball gap to gap. Ian can improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
