12/20/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Ike is a 2025 catcher out of Nashville, TN who continues to impress with his baseball abilities and did so at the Pirate City Christmas Camp & Tournament. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well. Pop times shows in the 2.13 range accuracy and carry (90 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works with through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Ike is a tall, athletic catcher who is a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off a soft chest. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in the 2.09 range with carry (89 mph velocity) on his throws. Offensively, he continues to shine with solid hitting abilities and well above average power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation through a balanced approach. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight from backside into a firm front side. With 2 years to further develop, Ike has a lot of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
