11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Ike is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Select Training & Competition at Pirate City. In the field, Ike shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Ike can improve defensively by fielding the ball in a lower position. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits from a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives. Continuing to add strength can help Ike improve as a hitter. On the mound, Ike gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Ike shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 63-64mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 63-64mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Ike can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. Overall, Ike is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.
