07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Irvin continues to impress with his athleticism and versatility on the diamond. At SS, he shows quick footwork as he works fluidly around the GB from right to left. Exchange is quick as he zips balls across the diamond (91 mph). At the plate, this RHH has rhythm to load as he remains balanced throughout his swing. Hands are quick as he connects consistently, and gets down the 1B line with speed. On the mound, Irvin has a repeatable delivery and pounds the zone with strikes. FB tops out at 81 mph as he stays on top and drives downhill off the rubber. Curveball has 11/5 shape and compliments FB well. Irvin proved to be a team leader who competes and works very hard day in and day out. He brings his all to the field and leaves it on the field. Irvin has a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

02/22/2015 - College PREP - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA Irvin is an athletic junior two-way player with strong play ability on all sides of the ball. Defensively at short, he works around the ball and has great feet that allow him to make plays with ease. He sees the ball in to his soft/sure glove and he throws with some life across the diamond. Offensively, he works on-time to get to his hitting position and delivers a direct barrel to contact. He has good balance throughout the swing and with more lower half drive will hit with greater pop. On the hill, he threw his fastball from 80-81, spun a 12/6 CB with sharp action from 59-67, and showed a CH from 74-76. He was simple with his mechanics and worked quickly in his tempo. Adding arm strength and lower half strength/drive will boost his velo and effectiveness. In all - Irvin is an intriguing athlete that should have a strong junior season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
