01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Isaac is a young and talented 2-way player (SS/RHP) who showed well during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. With the bat, this righty displays a tall setup with active hands to load. He whips the barrel on a level path, squares the ball up creating hard contact and drives the middle of the field. He doesn't try to do too much and understands what type of hitter he is (collecting 2 walks and a 2B in games). Defensively at SS, Bateman works smoothly around the GB and presents his glove out in front. He gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw, firing the ball to 1B. Continued reps will only aid in his development. On the mound, this RHP attacks hitters with a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH). Arm is loose and free as he fills up the zone with strikes. FB now tops out at 79 mph with good arm-side run as he works to keep it down in the zone. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape while CH has good run and depth complimenting his FB well. This 2022 grad has tools with upside on the diamond.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Isaac is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. At SS, Isaac is on time with his prep step, he works behind the ball, and has good hands. He funnels the ball into his body, he has a quick release, and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to improve his first step quickness and build arm strength with a long toss program. At the plate, Isaac starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back, and gets his front foot down on time. He has a compact swing, he attacks the inside part of the ball, and is a line drive hitter. On the bump, Isaac has good mound presence, he separates on time, and competes on every pitch. He needs to continue to find a balance point and work down hill in his delivery. He cuts his fastball and has a 10-4 break on his curveball. Developing a changeup will improve his ability to work off the fastball. Isaac will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/25/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Isaac is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Isaac shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. On the mound, Isaac gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Isaac shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph. Cutter sits from 70-72mph with sharp 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 70-71mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Isaac is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his sophomore season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
