Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

09/24/2017 - College PREP - Tacoma (Seattle), WA Isaac is a well-rounded LHP/1B prospect who has a versatile skill set. On the mound, Isaac has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. He has a controlled landing and stays square to home plate. Isaac does a nice job rotating towards his target as he finishes. He commands both his fastball with run movement and curveball. Offensively, Isaac has a square stance with a firm front side and centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a short stride. Isaac shows fast bat speed with quick hands producing hard contact. He has a good finish and can spray the ball to all fields. Isaac is a line drive type hitter who has power. In the field, Isaac plays hard and makes the routine plays. He has good glove awareness and receives the ball with soft hands. Isaac has a quick exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Isaac plays the game athletically with skill on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

07/14/2015 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Isaac showed as a LHP/1B with good actions defensively and offensively. Offensively, he was balanced in his setup, and generated good bat speed with some extension out in front. He showed some raw power and maintained his posture through the swing. Keeping his head in at contact and driving more with his lower half is key to further growth. At 1B, he worked to his fielding position, on-time and was sure with the glove. He displayed ability to pick it and worked well around the bag with his feet. Quicker actions and more flexibility will improve defensive skill. On the mound, he threw his FB from 66-68, spun a 2/8 CB from 54-56 and had good arm action to deliver. He was compact through his delivery, drove to the target with his legs and rotated to finish. He will boost pitch ability and skill by utilizing a long toss program, and running program. In all - Isaac is a 2018 R/L player that has a great attitude and a tough mentality.

06/23/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Isaac is a (2018 grad) L/L 2-way player as a LHP/1B. On the mound, this lefty has a 3-pitch mix coming from a low 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point and stays directional toward the dish. Delivery comes off deceptive keeping hitters guessing. FB ranges from 66-67 mph while showing slight run. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape (54-58 mph). Finishing with more extension on his follow through will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. At 1B, Blanco hustles and works hard around the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt and gathers well. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will help to improve his skills at 1B. With the bat, this RHH shows a slightly open setup with a solid base. Swing is level as he hits the ball back up the middle of the field. Increased bat speed and more lower 1/2 drive will help to increase power at the plate. Only a 2018 grad - Isaac still has a ton of time to develop his skills on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
