06/05/2008 - Under Armour Southeast Regional Tournament - 2008 Kaneakua showed excellent control and ability to pitch with his fastball. He attacked the strike zone, and moved his pitches in and out very well. His fastball also had very good arm side life, making it even more effective. He also mixed in a solid breaking pitch, which had life on two planes - mostly across the zone, but it did have some downward action as well. His delivery was consistent and mostly sound, allowing him to reach a consistent release point and to stay consistently around the plate with his pitches. At times during both of his outings, he was dominant - simply mowing through opposing hitters. He topped at 82 mph this time, a little less than we saw from him January, but his fastball is effectively much faster that the velocity indicates - thanks to his ability to keep hitters off balance and uncomfortable. He has potential to be a very effective LHP at the college level. Kaneakua is the type of pitcher you must see throw in a game situation to truly appreciate. Improved to Class 4 overall rating.
