Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Israel is an athletic 1B/RHP prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2018. Offensively, Israel has a square setup with a firm front side and his weight in the front of his stance. He takes a short stride and shows fast bat speed. He is a contact type hitter who has an aggressive approach. Israel also shows power to the pull side. In the field, Israel plays with effective footwork and takes the correct angles to cover good ground in each direction laterally. He gets around the baseball to field it in a square position. He has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are online across the diamond. On the mound, Israel has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from an over the top arm slot. He stays square to home plate and does a nice job rotating with his core towards his target. Israel works quickly and does a nice job changing speeds deceiving the hitter. Overall, Israel is a versatile prospect who has a talented skill set and upside to get even better.

03/05/2017 - College PREP - Chattanooga, TN Israel is a broad, strong two-way prospect wo is more advanced as a first baseman. He shows impressive power at the plate with the ability to hit for extra bases. He has a strong, square setup at the dish with fluid actions and centered balance. He gets on plane early and has a fast bat through the zone, directly to the ball to use all fields and make hard contact with pull side power. At first, he has efficient footwork to get to the ball and square it up to field. His feet work well around the bag and he presents his hands to receive throws and dig the ball with ease. This right hander works straight over the top on the mound with good direction to the plate and balance throughout his delivery. He works up to 69mph with his fastball and shows an 11-5 curve and upper 50's change. Loosening his arm action will allow for more arm whip and extension and lead to more action on his pitches. Israel is a prospect we look forward to watching as he continues to develop.

02/07/2016 - College PREP - Mobile, AL Israel is a lean RHP/1B who will graduate in 2018 with a strong lower half. At 1B, feet are active as he works to square up, displaying clean hands. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. At the plate he shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 62-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but will benefit by developing more movement on pitch. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 2 years to further develop, Israel has abilities with a lot of room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
