Official Scouting Report

08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ivory worked out at both SS and on the mound during Pirate City. Arm strength improved during the event and was clocked at 80 MPH. In the INF, Ivory showed good hustle, quick footwork, and he fields in a square position. He presents his glove well, keeps the ball in front of his body, and his release is quick with accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Ivory showed a quick arm action, he keeps his eyes on target, and has nice hip explosion. He lands with good direction and has a proper stride. Offensively, Ivory has a tall/open stance, good load, and swings in good rhythm. He stands in well balanced, has a level swing, and can spray to all fields.

06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ivory is a solid, athletic RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic / squared setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to increase foot quickness and play through balls more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-78 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Ivory has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
