  • OF/3BPosition Projection

04/10/2016 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Jabari continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF is where he shows best defensively. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles. He gets behind the ball and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At 3B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and moves well laterally. Glove action is clean and he shows good body control. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. Continuing to increase foot quickness will aid in improving range. At the plate, hitting / power abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Swing path is level as he shows a line drive type approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Jabari Moore is a 5'11/165 lbs OF/3B that showed great intangibles at the Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City. In the OF, he worked efficiently to make plays, working behind the baseball and throwing with accuracy to his targets. He was sure with the glove and began to work more aggressively with his legs to throw during drill work. In the infield, he worked around the baseball and made plays with his glove in front. He boosted his exchange and release quickness during the course of the event, carrying his hands together for a more fluid transfer. Offensively, he tracked well, and maintained his balance through the swing. He drove with his lower half well, and got extended out over the front side well. During cage rotations, Jabari worked on being more direct to contact with the barrel and worked to stay more rhythmic with his hands and hips. All in all - Jabari is a good athlete that has another year to fine tune his game and add strength for his senior spring.

10/11/2015 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Jabari is an athletic 2-way player who graduates in 2017. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with solid routes/angles to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers well and gains ground toward his target. At 3B, Jabari shows active footwork as he moves well into a square fielding position. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, this RHH has a square setup with centered balance. Swing path is level as he connects and drives the middle of the field. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path with more bat speed will result in increased pop. A 2017 grad - Jabari has upside with still time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
