01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jabari is a skilled and athletic OF who continues to shine and did so again during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. With the bat, this righty stands in with an open setup and centered balance. Hands are quick to and through the zone at contact as he squares the ball up and gets good extension on his finish. He has good zone awareness with the ability to drive the ball on the outer half the other way. At SS, Smith maintains athletic actions and works fluidly from right to left around the groundball. He has good lateral range and funnels the ball smoothly to a clean exchange. Arm strength is evident as he gets the ball out of his glove and across the diamond quickly. This 2020 grad will turn some heads over the next couple of years and will make things happen every time that he steps onto the diamond.

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Jabari continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.12. In the MIF, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is sure and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jabari is an athletic and talented 2020 middle infield prospect. In the INF, Jabari is on time with his prep step, presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He gets into the proper position to field and makes athletic throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Jabari loads his hands back into the drive position and keeps a quiet head. He attacks the ball with his lower half, he stays inside the ball, and has explosive hands. He has great energy on the field and is a student of the game. Jabari will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Jabari is a lean SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.28. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities through a squared / tall setup. Hands are strong (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is firm and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Jabari has the making of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
