05/17/2015 - College PREP - Brookfield (Milwaukee), WI Jack is a lean, athletic SS that will graduate in 2017. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.97 60 time. He utilizes his quick feet in taking proper first steps and moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more, plays through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and works to get stride foot down sooner to be on time. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more aggressively. With 2 years to further develop, Jack has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
