Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

11/19/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Germantown (Memphis), TN Jack is a tall (5'7"/140), skilled 2-way player as a RHP/3B. On the mound, this righty fires a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall/controlled balance point, has smooth separation and works in-line towards the dish. FB ranges from 63-65 mph as he commands it well and can hit spots. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with early action. Changeup shows to be his best off-speed pitch as he throws it with FB arm speed and works to keep it down in the zone. At 3B, Jack has active footwork and moves well into a square/athletic fielding position. He plays low through the ball, has a quick exchange and whips accurate throws to 1B. As a hitter, this righty stands in with centered balance and a solid base. Quick hands whip the barrel through a level path as he connects and creates good extension through contact. This 2023 grad has upside. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve his all-around skill set on the diamond.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. More lower 1/2 drive
3. Finish with extension
Defense
1. Glove presentation
2. Footwork to backhand
3. Footwork / Agility
Offense
1. Extension through contact
2. Contact points
3. Swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
