Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Jack is a talented 2022 2-way prospect that was eager to learn and has a great work ethic. In the OF, Jack starts in an athletic position and hustles after the ball. He needs to continue to work behind the ball and create momentum in his lower half when throwing. Building arm strength and improving his first step to the ball will elevate his game at the position. At the plate, Jack starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He rotates his core, makes consistent contact, and drives the ball to all fields. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and creating backside drive with his lower half will allow him to have a compact swing. On the bump, Jack gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. He has confidence in his fastball and commands his curveball down in the zone. Jack was willing to make in game adjustments and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/02/2018 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY Jack is a young LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Jack repeats his delivery as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm action and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Jack has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball ranges from 57-60mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 62-63mph with good sinking action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Jack can improve as a pitcher by extending through on his release. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a crouched stance and works to barrel up the baseball. Jack can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Jack has time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Jack is a young LHP. On the mound, Jack stands over the rubber well, he keeps his eyes on target, and separates on time. He has good glove side lead, lands in a square position, and finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Jack has a square set-up, a still head, and he works the middle of the field. He loads properly and hits hard to the pull side. Jack can improve overall abilities with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Lower body
2. Extension
3. Loosen arm action
Hitting
1. Extension
2. Lower 1/2
3. Rhythm/timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
