Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.13. At the plate, he shows a squared athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he communicates well and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. Feet are aggressive in tracking down balls but he needs get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard, is very coachable, and is a great team player.

07/27/2016 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jack is a lean, athletic prospect who currently plays above his tools and has a lot of upside. He has fluid actions in the outfield, getting good reads on balls and showing plus range to track balls down. He has a clean exchange to throw and shows off an accurate arm to his target. At the plate, he loads to a power position and stays square to the pitcher. He uses his strength to generate good bat speed and pop and shows the ability to recognize pitches early out of the pitcher's hand. Jack is a good athlete with a high ceiling and we look forward to seeing him progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
