07/10/2012 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Jack is a solid, broad SS/C that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects slightly better as a catcher defensively. Feet work in line to his target and shows outstanding arm strength. His transfer / exchange is long, causing a long release with pop times showing a range of 2.06-2.18. Times will continue to drop as he speeds up his actions. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy into his target. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level as he continues to improve. At SS, feet are active as he attacks ground balls, plays through well, and displays clean hands. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to present hands more out front and improve foot speed. At the plate, he shows a balanced set up and loads smoothly. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power numbers improving as he improves barrel accuracy. With 2 years to further develop, Jack has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
