07/07/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Lowell (Boston), MA Jack is a 3B prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Jack shows active footwork and flashes good lateral range. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a quick exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Making a cleaner release can help Jack improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact and gap to gap pop. Driving his lower half more can help Jack improve as a hitter. Overall, Jack is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jack is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week. At the hot corner, Jack starts in an athletic position, he plays through his backhand, and throws from multiple arm angles. Being on time with his prep step, and improving his footwork will allow him to have a quick first step to the ball. At the plate, Jack starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has a simple approach. He has rhythm in his hands and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, create backside rotation with his lower half, and attack the fastball early in counts. On the bump, Jack has good mound presence, separates on time, and attacks the strike zone. Jack will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/18/2018 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jack continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, defensive abilities are now well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He utilizes his lower half well and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Jack continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, he displays proper footwork and moves well laterally. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will continue to increase as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-71 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is makes adjustments and is a great team player.

06/04/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Medford (Boston), MA Jack is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2021. Defensively at 3B, he displays active/loose actions and fields the GB with soft hands. He comes up with a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball in a hurry. On the mound, this righty delivers from a 3/4 arm slot with quick arm action. He separates on time and delivers a FB that runs and a CH that deceives hitters. At the plate, Jack gets back into a good load. He whips his barrel fast through the zone as he sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Develop softer hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Be a strike thrower
2. Stronger frontside
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
