Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 DeAno is an athletic two-way player with good overall life in his body. He ran 6.95 and 7.11 in the 60-yard dash, a little down from where we saw him before but still solid for an off-season event. On the mound, he topped at 85 mph with his fastball and showed signs of tight breaking pitches. His arm speed and arm stroke were solid, and he showed some command of his fastball. Was a little inconsistent with his delivery, causing him to get under his pitches at times. Quick hands stood out at the plate, where he hit from a balanced approach. Overall, a talented and capable all around player.

06/14/2007 - College PREP - Crestwood, IL Jack projects best on the mound and showed well above average arm strength, topping out at 86 mph. His best pitch is his breaking ball, displaying tight spin with a sharp late break. He does need some work with his change up but presently displays 2 quality pitches, showing good command with both. Jack shows well above average skills in the outfield and at the plate and could develop into a possible two-way player at the next level. His foot speed is a plus with a 6.9 60 time and utilizes his feet into an aggressive approach and covers some ground. His also showed the ability to find the barrel through a line drive type swing path. He is a young player that should continue to develop in a solid player at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
