02/24/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Jack is a hard-working 2024 LHP prospect that made several adjustments during the pitching and catching accelerated training weekend. On the bump, Jack gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm stroke. He throws downhill and has a strong glove side. Starting with more weight on the back leg to start will allow him to use the lower half to drive to the plate more freely. Picking up his target early will help him be more accurate as well. Jack will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Jack is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He produces decent bat speed through the zone which leads to solid contact. Jack can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing and by maintaining his base throughout his swing. With seven more years to develop, Jack has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

06/20/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Bridgeport, CT Jack is an athletic, 1B/LHP. Defensively at 1B, he displays loose actions with agile footwork around the bag. He's aggressive to the ball and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this lefty gathers over the rubber with smooth tempo. He delivers a 3-pitch mix with clean arm action as he works in line towards home plate. With the stick, Jack has an aggressive approach in the box. He stays balanced through contact as he sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Develop soft hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Stronger frontside
2. Get to a balance point
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
