07/21/2009 - Cape Cod Training 2009 - Week 3
Dougherty is an OF who has also shown the ability to play behind the plate and the INF in the past. He has a thin frame with broad, square shoulders. His strength lies at the plate where he already shows solid avg and is very fundamental sound. He uses the entire field in a simple, compact, efficient approach to hitting. His power will improve with physical maturity and he will also improve when he learns to stay on top of the ball more creating more line drives rather than fly balls. Defensively he shows good hands, exchange, and arm stroke. He also moves through the ball well. He can use more aggression to the baseball, which should also help his overall jumps and reads. Jack has the makings of a plus hitter with solid OF playability.
