02/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Jack continues to show improvements on the diamond and is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Pop times showed in the 2.10 range with accuracy / carry (80 mph exit velocity) on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, he shows a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage (82 mph exit velocity) with gap to gap pop.

07/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Jack is a talented R/R catcher who continues to progress on the diamond. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and sway, tracking pitches into a soft mitt. He sticks the ball, framing well. He has quick footwork with a quick transfer/exchange putting throws down to 2B on the bag - pop times still in the low 2's. With the bat, he shows an open stance with fluid rhythm to load. Swing is quick as he connects and creates good extension through contact, hitting consistent line-drives to all parts of the field. Flitter has the skill-set that will translate well into the next level.

01/26/2020 - College PREP - San Jose, CA Jack is an athletic C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Jack shows quick footwork and creates a good spine angle when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Recovering to his feet quicker after blocking can help Jack improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and hits against a strong front side. He extends through the ball well and drives to his pull side. Jack can improve as a hitter by maintaining center balance throughout his swing. Overall, Jack is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

03/17/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Jack is an athletic catcher with broad shoulders and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, he shows fluid footwork and takes good angles when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher, receiving with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through the 2B bag. Pop times showed in 2.14 range with carry (84 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Jack has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
